Rick Baxter, Regional Marketing Director for Scripps Newspapers, presented John Loesser, Executive Director of the Lyric Theatre, with a check for $10,000 from the Scripps Foundation. The grant will help to support opportunities for the underserved children in Martin County to attend performances of the Lyric Theatre’s Arts and Education Programs.  “We are proud to be the recipient of this grant and thank our local Scripps partners for recognizing the value of making quality performing arts available to our community”, Loesser said.

Established in 1998 as part of the Scripps Foundation, the Community Fund Grants are aimed at “giving back” and improving the quality of life in the communities they serve, through grants to education, social services, arts and culture and health and human services.

The 84 year-old Lyric Theatre, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization seeks to “…restore and provide a historic theater facility in Downtown Stuart in order to enhance cultural and educational development for Martin County and surrounding communities.”
